What is the communication between the LoRa terminal and the gateway?
The communication between the LoRa terminal and the gateway is done on the basis of different frequencies and data rates, the choice of data rate being a trade-off between transmission distance and message latency.
Thanks to the spread spectrum technology, communications at different transmission rates do not interfere with each other and a “virtualized” set of frequency bands is created to increase the gateway capacity.
LoRaWAN data rates range from 0.3kbps to 37.5kbps. To maximize end-device battery life and overall network capacity, LoRaWAN network servers control data rates and RF output power per end device through an Adaptive Data Rate (ADR) scheme.
The nationwide coverage wide area network targets IoT applications such as critical infrastructure construction, confidential personal data transmission, or social public services.
