What is a PCB antenna?

PCB antenna is a transducer converting current waves into electromagnetic (EM) waves. PCB antennas convert current in high frequency into EM waves that propagate into the air. Installing an antenna, a PCB assembly is able to transmit or receive data at a specific frequency range.

PCB Antenna’s Function

The PCB antenna refers to the part on the PCB for wireless reception and transmission.

The antenna is a kind of energy converter.

When transmitting, it converts the high-frequency current of the transmitter into space electromagnetic waves; when receiving, it converts the electromagnetic waves intercepted from space into high-frequency currents and sends them to the receiver. For designing a low-power, short-range wireless transceiver device used in a radio frequency identification system, antenna design is an important part of it.

A good antenna system can make the communication distance reach the best condition. There are many types of antennas, and different applications require different antennas. In a low-power, short-distance wireless transmission system, an antenna system with reliable communication and low price is required, and the PCB antenna is one of the more commonly used ones.
