How 4G network is structured?
4G is the fourth generation mobile communication technology, the technology includes TD-LTE and FDD-LTE two standards, strictly speaking, LTE is only 3.9G, only the upgraded version of LTE Advanced to meet the requirements of the International Telecommunication Union for 4G.

The 4G LTE network structure is as follows.
The entire 4G LTE network is divided into two large parts, E-UTRAN and EPC, in terms of access network and core network. Compared with 3G technology, corresponding to the UTRAN and EPC parts of 3G technology.
1) E-UTRAN (Evolved Universal Terrestrial RadioAccess Network)
The research objectives of E-UTRAN in terms of system performance and capability are mainly the following.
A: Higher peak air interface rates as well as spectral efficiency.
B: In E-UTRAN, the eNodeBs are connected to each other logically through X2 interfaces using IP transmission, i.e., forming a mesh-type network. Such a network structure is designed to support the mobility of UEs throughout the network and to ensure seamless user switching.
Each eNodeB is connected to a MobilityManagement Entity (MME)/Serving Gateway (S-GW) via the S1 interface, and an eNodeB can be interconnected with multiple MMEs/S-GWs and vice versa.
C: In the E-UTRAN network, the entire E-UTRAN air interface protocol structure is significantly different from the original UTRAN due to the absence of the RNC, especially the location of different functional entities has changed a lot. The functions originally undertaken by the RNC are dispersed to the eNodeB and MME/S-GW.
2) EPC (EvolvedPacket Core)
The EPC core network mainly consists of Mobility Management Equipment (MME), Service Gateway (S-GW), Packet Data Gateway (P-GW), HSS for storing subscriber contract information, and Policy Control Unit (PCRF), etc. Among them, S-GW and P-GW can be combined or separated.
The EPC core network architecture adheres to the concept of separation of control and bearer, separating the mobility management, signaling control function, and media forwarding function of SGSN in the packet domain, which are completed by two network elements respectively。
MME is responsible for mobility management, signaling processing, and other functions, S-GW is responsible for media stream processing and forwarding, and other functions, while P-GW still takes up the function of GGSN.
The RNC network element is eliminated from the LTE wireless system, and its functions are moved to the base station eNodeB and core network element respectively. eNodeB will interconnect with MME and S-GW directly through the S1 interface, which simplifies the structure of the wireless system.
