Description
What is a Lora Long Range Antenna?
The Lora Long Range Antenna 5dBi Antenna style CTRF-ANTENNA-OMNI-8593-20300-N is an N-type connector Omni LoRa antenna 5dBi 868/900/915 MHz outdoor fiberglass antenna manufactured by C&T RF Antennas Inc for LoRa & LoRaWan communication systems.
The Lora Long Range Antenna 5dBi Antenna has an N-male connector, a 20x300mm waterproof glass fiber antenna radome, 5 dBi high-gain, 850-930 MHz Lora band, long-range & high-performance for indoor-outdoor LoRa applications.
Why can LoRa transmit long-range?
A: The distance of wireless communication is affected by many factors, including attenuation, loss, noise, atmospheric absorption, multipath, and refraction.
For a long time, the most direct means to extend the communication distance is to increase the transmitting power, i.e., to increase Eb/N0 (the ratio of energy per signal to noise power density per Hertz), and this approach cannot meet the requirements of low power consumption.
Later, it was found that spread spectrum technology could gain the following: immunity from various types of noise and multipath distortion; and gain in signal-to-noise ratio.
In other words, the use of spread spectrum communication is more resistant to interference the communication distance is longer, and the long distance of LoRa originates from here.
The diagram of LoRa spread spectrum modulation shows that the original signal of the user data is XOR (different or) operated with the extended coded bitstream to generate the transmit signal stream, and the effect of this modulation is a significant increase in the bandwidth of the transmitted signal (extended-spectrum).
