LTE architecture has the following changes compared to 3G network architecture.
1). LTE achieves the separation of control and bearer, MME is responsible for mobility management, signaling processing, and other functions, and S-GW is responsible for media stream processing and forwarding and other functions:
2). LTE core network abolished CS (circuit domain), all-IP EPC (Evolved Packet Core, mobile core network evolution)
Support all kinds of technology unified access, realize fixed network and mobile convergence (FMC), flexible support VoIP and IMS-based multimedia services, realize the network all-IP;
3). LTE eliminates RNC, the original RNC function is dispersed into eNode B and gateway (GW), eNodeB directly accesses EPC, LTE network structure is flatter, reducing the user perceptible delay, significantly improving the user’s mobile communication experience;
4). LTE interface connection:
With the introduction of S1-F1ex and X2 interfaces, mobile bearers need to achieve multi-point to multi-point connection, X2 is a distributed interface between neighboring eNBs, mainly for user mobility management;
S1-Flex is a dynamic interface from the eNB to the EPC, mainly used to improve network redundancy and achieve load balancing;
5). LTE transmission bandwidth:
The transmission bandwidth requirement is 10 times higher than that of 3G base stations, with 200~300Mbit/s at the beginning and 1Gbit/so at the later stage.
